The Arches, the stone bridge on the approach to Olney

About us

No waiting lists, no assessments, no clipboard. Just people in Olney looking after other people in Olney.

Olney is Kind is dedicated to providing support to our local residents facing challenging circumstances, be it crisis, poverty, or any other difficulties. Our mission is to improve wellbeing.

We started because the gap was obvious to anyone paying attention. A town of Georgian stone and Saturday markets still has households choosing between heating and food, and people waiting two years for an hour with a counsellor. A problem shared is a problem halved — so we share it, practically, every week of the year.

Everything we raise here stays here: in food parcels handed out at the Olney Centre, and in therapy sessions paid for on behalf of people in MK46.

01

Food

We distribute 15–20 food parcels every month to individuals and families experiencing food poverty as a result of the cost-of-living crisis.

02

Mental health

Mental Health UK reports that over 8 million people are experiencing anxiety disorders at any one time. In Milton Keynes, the wait for an NHS counsellor can be up to two years. We work with Cobbs Garden Surgery to fund private counselling sessions for patients referred to us — so people in Olney don’t have to wait.

03

Inclusion

Olney is a relatively affluent town, but some residents still experience poverty and isolation. We want to make sure everyone here can take part in what happens in our community and share in the town’s prosperity.
